My 2009 Harley Davidson Roadglide has performed without flaw over the past 30, 000 miles.  With good maintenance, tire changes ect I shouldn't have problems for now.
Things I'm sold on for my bike- the newly designed touring tires from Dunlop.. great performance and tire wear.  AMSOIL has proven to do it's job in extreme heat conditions.  This last trip I changed out my transmission fluid to the extreme gear oil from AMSOIL noticed smoother shifts and a more quite gear box.
I've been running the 8K HID extreme head lights for 23,000 miles now.. other than being a great safety feature they sure provide excellent light coverage.
For those interested, yes I run my stock Harley seat. The 2009 FLTR came with a great touring seat and saw no reason to change it out.  If I say it's comfortable you know it's true because I have no ass..
My travel bag that fits over my back rest.. works perfect!!!  However I am to the point that maybe I want to get the hard touring pack that is on detachable plates. It's lockable and carries a bunch of stuff.  Much easier to transfer from bike to hotel room and then to repack. I dunno jury is still out on that one.
I could say more on tools and stuff but so far I love the tool bag kit I carry and may post pics of it. It is important to buy a tool kit/bag that is made for your bike.. like metric bikes use metric tools ect. and Harleys use real American tools like standard size tools.  Also one of the main things I carry along with a portable air pump is my plug kit for my tires. I've actually had to plug tires before.  Hey if your the guy of guy or girl that likes spokes and like to ride long distance.. you may wanna run mags while touring.  If you get a hole in your tire while on the road with a spoke rim with inner tube your hosed.
I recently bought a cool gas can that is designed to fit in one of the saddle bags on my touring bike. It gives you peace of mind while cruising areas of the country your not familiar with.  ..adds about 50 more miles in range.

My bike doesn't have cams or big motor work. pretty much stock except the thunder header, fuel pak and big breather.  I like my bike to run as efficiently as possible.. If I wanted a really fast high performance ride I'd buy a GSXR and run it at the track.  Having said that, jumping on Noelins bike in Death Valley and going from 50-to 115 or 120 was exciting...in just seconds.  I get on an average 50-52 MPG on my bike while out touring.  Head winds and mountain climbing shave some of that off of course.

I just love long road trips. Taking this trip keeps me motivated just to live.  I don't know what my future holds as far as work ect., but I do know that I want to continue to ride and if I can ride with my son to some of these places then it's a bonus.  I've worn out the desert for a while.  I think I would really like to constraint my efforts on the South East, North East and East Coast.. Have you really given it much thought? How much history the East coast has to offer and some killer scenery?  I often think how can a ride get much better than this??? But I guess it can.... Until next time Ride Safe to all my riding friends.
